People Director

We’re seeking an experienced and visionary People Director to lead our People team as we grow beyond 300 employees and continue expanding internationally. Currently, we have an HQ in Amsterdam and are operating 19 retail stores in 4 markets.
In the role of People Director, you’ll shape the HR strategy, embed our values into the employee experience, and support our growth into new markets. Your role requires navigating complex challenges, shaping and implementing scalable solutions, and developing initiatives that grow the skills and employee satisfaction of the MR MARVIS team.
You will oversee a team of seven across HR, Talent Acquisition, and Office Management. Your mandate is to translate MR MARVIS’ business strategy into a clear people agenda, ensuring the right structures, capabilities, and tools are in place to scale effectively while maintaining our culture and values. This is a role for a hands-on strategist who combines operational discipline with leadership experience in high-growth, international organisations.

What you'll do
Strategic Leadership:
Act as a trusted advisor to the Management Team
Define clear KPIs for the People team and align them with company-wide objectives.
Translate business strategies into an actionable HR roadmap for HQ (Netherlands) and retail stores (Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and United Kingdom, and soon France)
Lead strategic workforce planning, including succession planning and help shape the internal team structure / reporting lines.
Identify and implement scalable HR tools to support international growth, streamline processes, and enhance employee experiences.
Develop comprehensive HR dashboards to deliver real-time, data-driven insights that inform strategic decisions.
Prepare, manage, and monitor the personnel budget, ensuring alignment with long-term goals.
Talent & Culture:
Advise on hiring strategies to support our growth.
Maintain and evolve MR MARVIS’s culture, mission, and values.
Define and implement learning and development initiatives that enhance both individual and organizational capabilities.
Introduce a forward-thinking approach to performance management, linking goal setting, development, and evaluation in a cohesive cycle.
Develop recognition and reward frameworks that balances the needs of the business and with those of employees.
Drive the development of policies and initiatives supporting B-Corp certification.
Operations & Compliance:
Handle complex topics related to (international) labor law, collective labor agreements (CAO), and occupational health policy (Arbobeleid).
Oversee and guide launches in new markets from a HR perspective (from employment contracts, compensation / secondary benefits, payroll, salary benchmarks, etc).
Optimise our benefits offering, driving employee satisfaction and well-being.
What you'll bring
10+ years of experience in HR leadership roles
University degree, preferably in HR, Business Administration, or related field
Experience in fast-scaling, international environments (affinity with retail sector is a plus)
Strong analytical mindset; able to translate data into actionable insights
Fluent in English and Dutch (spoken and written), other languages are a plus
Empathetic, approachable, and decisive leadership style
For non-Europeans, a valid working permit for the Netherlands is required.
