Technical Director
About the job
A unique opportunity at a direct-to-consumer scale up! MR MARVIS is looking for an experienced tech savvy Technical Director to be responsible for its rapidly growing headless/composable tech stack. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the technical vision, strategy, and team to support the growth and success of our ecommerce/retail backbone.
As Technical Director, you will be the leader of all things digital- and (physical) tech at MR MARVIS. From the reliability of our ecommerce platform to internal automations, from business-critical dashboards and back-office systems to the provisioning of laptops and point-of-sale terminals—you will oversee it all and ensure we have the right people, processes, partners and tools in place to allow our business to scale while minimising complexity and security- and compliance vulnerabilities. You will lead a talented team of 16 professionals (Engineers, IT, Product Owner, Data Engineers & Analysts, Merchandising, CRO, UI/UX), collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and high-performance solutions.
To get a glimpse of the stage we are in, here’s a selection of topics that are being worked on: merging legacy separate Shopify instances (and connected systems) into a single Shopify Markets instance, taking our digital returns experience to the next level and allowing omni-channel returns, investigating various AI solutions to allow online style advice, improving our master data management setup, integrating a new ERP system (Odoo) in various business processes, moving certain integrations over to a new iPaaS, setting up mobile device management for HQ and retail POS systems, setting up a platform integrator to allow selling through marketplaces & facilitating branded shop-in-shop sales, implementation of RFID to improve stock accuracy.
About MR MARVIS
MR MARVIS is an Amsterdam-based men's clothing brand launched in 2016, dedicated to creating the perfect shorts, trousers and tops. We are the largest Dutch clothing brand with a B Corp Certification; a label which is only awarded to companies that demonstrably make a positive impact and contribute to a better world. You’ve probably spotted us in vibrant cities such as Amsterdam, Antwerp, Munich and Brussels and we have a strong online presence across Europe.
A diversity of backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives is essential in helping us maintain our momentum. So no matter where you’re from, who you love, or what you believe in, we welcome you to be your true self at MR MARVIS. To make our employees feel marvellous, we offer pension schemes and disability insurance and give them the opportunity to invest in personal growth and development.
Our mission is to share positive energy around the world and make people feel marvellous. We do so by creating iconic designs, offering best-in class service and driving conscious decisions for people and the planet.
As a clothing brand, we want to take responsibility for the impact we have on the world. We aim for timeless design, conscious choices for more sustainable materials and local European production (handmade in Portugal) - in short we are an advocate of “slow fashion”. That is why we are working every day to reduce our emissions and create value for everyone who comes into contact with MR MARVIS. Therefore, we are proud to have become a Certified B Corporation (B Corp). As a B Corp, MR MARVIS is part of a global community of businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental impact. Being a force for good goes beyond producing- and selling sustainably, in the end it’s about people. In line with our mission, we participate in several charity and voluntary activities that in most cases focus on the people who sometimes feel a little less marvellous. Examples include: our employees visit elderly homes and dance with elderly who too often feel lonely, our employees help renovate homes for homeless people, and every year we participate in (and donate to) a charity campaign against child cancer (KiKa). It is also reflected in various HR choices we’ve made so far: good pension plans and disability insurances, learning & development budgets, trainings & inspirational talks, daily healthy catered lunch (on the house), matching employees donations, monthly sport budget, free access to coaches & psychologists, and much more.
